I've configured a FW1 last month, and I found that the builtin SMTP Proxy did neither support ASMTP nor ESMTP. I opened TCP port 25 unproxied for outgoing traffic to avoid the firewall's command set restrictions. The firewall firmware was older, though, and I don't know if the limitation still exists in current releases.
