I have only upgraded one laptop. The desktop computer has one hard disk 
dead, so for now I'm not using it.

I considered the migration tool, but in the end I did not use it. I read 
what the tool does in the wiki and docs, did the steps manually, and 
some other steps of my own, and then called zypper dup with download 
first. I posted about it.

Ah, I forgot that first I did the testing on a virtual machine:

That's what I posted about. The laptop upgrade was uneventful, using the 
4th method I tested before on the virtual machine. There were some 
problems found later of apps not running correctly, like dovecot:
