With konversation I currently connect to IRC servers, a local pickups 
session for Hangouts and a remote bitlbee instance. I am not directly 
using Matrix in this setup. However, I use the android app "Riot" to 
connect over the matrix.org server to the freenode IRC rooms I am also 
in with konversation.
