Maybe we need some more test before dropping SCIM. I've recently installed iBus related packages from M17N repo and found some problems in inputting Japanese by iBus-Anthy on flash sites. 1) If iBus related packages are installed and iBus is set as default input method, flash doesn't work on Firefox and Chromium browser (at least). If I launch those browsers with "GTK_IM_MODULE=xim", flash will work. 2) Can't input any characters into text box on flash site. I know this is a known issue and tried a workaround (installing Flash Player 10.1 beta) which is introduced at http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=19926 But I couldn't successfully install Flash Player 10.1 beta to my environment (openSUSE 11.2 x86_64). :-( # I couldn't see any flash plugin on "about:plugins" page on Firefox. With SCIM-Anthy, I can input characters into text box on flash site, if I launch Firefox with "GTK_IM_MODULE=xim". As a Japanese user, unless those problems won't be solved, I can't agree to treat iBus as a default input method at least in Japanese environment.
