I have no idea... gnome-settings-daemon switches ibus engines in
gnome-shell 3.6.
You might like to port the statusIconDispatcher in gnome-shell 3.4 to
3.6, which has been deleted in 3.6, to work ibus 1.4 and gnome-shell:
