They are both software and md is very well tested. Installation should not ask for driver disks, but use the ata_piix driver. If this is not the case, then the PCI IDs from the mainboard SATA controller are not in the known list; you can find instructions on the 'net about how to add them and then rebuild the initrd.img file that will allow you to boot. Then use the installer (-> manual partitioning) to define a RAID1 array. > So I have created eg. drivers from Intel site for RH9 but If you mix-and-match (RH9 and RHEL9) you'll get troubles - if it works at all. > Questions: > 1) What have I done wrong or how should I continue ? > - drop that array ? Yes, allow the disks to be seen as just 2 disks. > - forget the RAID1 No. I run about 10 machines with software mirrored (RAID1) disks with md; they have various onboard disk controllers, some supposedly RAID 0/1 capable, but with md it's much simpler. > - wait for Tao 4 to get new drivers That's not a guarantee. Do you have any idea if the 2.6 kernel has capabilities to recognize the Intel RAID ? -- Bogdan Costescu IWR - Interdisziplinaeres Zentrum fuer Wissenschaftliches Rechnen Universitaet Heidelberg, INF 368, D-69120 Heidelberg, GERMANY Telephone: +49 6221 54 8869, Telefax: +49 6221 54 8868 E-mail: Bogdan.Costescu-PDzUyZpvkMP/PDbm/[email protected]
