Re: MATE on LTSP thin client - still login problems :-(

Thank you Alkis, I am making progress with your assistance.

The GUI is starting up now, but performance is very slow compared to our
16.04 configuration.

I use SaltStack configuration management scripts to manage our LTSP builds,
and have built many 16.04 chroots, but I have to admit I haven't made any
major changes such as those involved in upgrading to 18.04 (and looking at
MATE.)

Currently we have 2 production environments using 16.04 fat clients, and
one production environment using a very thin 16.04 build.

This should be my first 18.04 environment, I'll report back once I have the
GUI running smoothly.
