graphical file managers

What annoys me most in Linux desktop environments is the lack of a decent file
manager such as Explorer.

Hold the stones. I'm no M$ fan. I will not go and yell "but Windows can do
this and that so much better than Linux" because it usually can't.
But Explorer is the one thing I really miss. It's almost intuitiv, there is a
handful of useful shortcuts you can learn in no time, drag'n'drop works fine
even with other apps, task bar etc etc.

But the one advantage where Explorer scores most vs Nautilus, Konqueror etc
etc is: it doesn't waste the whole space on the frigging desktop to display an
aliased 18pix font hanging three miles below an 2000x3000 icon placed
lightyears from its neighbors. Explorer displays [0-9][0-9] files at once, try
that with any Linux FM. 

I've tried any I could find.

The best graphical FM that ever hit Desktops was GnomeMC which code
unfortunately was removed from MC.
Closest matches to my needs so far were AmExplorer and Endeavour2, the first
lacking features and being open src, the latter lacking stability.
