Yes you should. I wouldn't recommend pre-emptive kernel support for a
server, and enabling the Server Scheduler tweaks is (suprise) a suitable
approach ;)

I would also stick to a 100Hz scheduler timeslice (unless you _really_
know what you are doing). For the record, the low-latency option is
enabled by default in WOLK (it is not a selectable) which is fine.

As you are using Gentoo, you may be interested to know that there is a
somewhat more flexible ebuild here:

http://arnolds.dhs.org/cgi-bin/viewcvs.cgi/Gentoo/sys-kernel/wolk-sources/wolk-sources-4.9-r1.ebuild?rev=1.2&content-type=text/vnd.viewcvs-markup

This supports extra USE flags for the so-called workstation patches. Of
these, you may find the wolk-ide flag to be of interest if you use an
IDE system as that enables a newer IDE layer which has been backported
from later 2.4 kernels. Consider it to be somewhat experimental though.

To be honest, I think the current release in the 4.10 branch is a lot
nicer. You can get an incremental patch here: http://wolk.sf.net/tmp
which will apply to clean 4.9 sources. I'm running 4.10-pre7 on my
server now and I love it. Here's a mirror of the ChangeLog:
