RE: [Garnet-devel] some of the docs are now online

FWIW, there are two documents on Sourceforge,
inconsistently-formatted.

The first one I did was the tour, which was done with the default
Latex2html settings.  This means it has multiple files, with next
buttons (but these are not correctly being loaded --- seems like the
latex2html configuration I have doesn't point to a good place to get
these buttons).

The tutorial I did a little more carefully, and imposed my personal
preference for single HTML files.  Why?  because if you take the
default of spattering the document into a large number of files,
roughly one for each subsection, the document is essentially
unsearchable with a browser.  I'd rather suck up some extra loading
time to get a more usable document, and as broadband gets more
prevalent, I think this is generally the Right Thing.

[Notes to all;]

If anyone is really interested in getting the manual set printed, in
the short term, I recommend simply sending the PS to kinko's.  [You
might have to translate it to pdf, first.]   Have them print it on
three-hole paper and put it in a binder.  This will cost you less than
$50, and will be well worth it!

Print on demand is an appealing thought, but the book is so large that
I'd be afraid you'd get something whose binding would just break (I
have been through at least three copies of CLtL2; the spine always
breaks, and then pages start to fall out).

I will try to get more Garnet docs on line, but it's reasonably
time-consuming, so this will be slow.  If I start to get bug reports,
indicating that my Garnet efforts are meeting an audience, I will be
more motivated!
