Questions on Dialog usage

Hi there, follow Dialog users!  While this group has been mostly
quiet, it is still around and is probably a good place for me ask
usage questions about Dialog.

I have been using the program lightly for about a year now.  Some
things I like about it, some I don't.  For example: I wish there were
better progress messages so I know far along the retrieval of new
emails and news articles is at the moment. =20

One of the things I have not been able to figure out is how to do a
purge of old articles and compacting of the databases.  Right now, my
Dialog folder is taking up 285 megs of disk space, and I am sure some
of that is due to Dialog retaining news articles and emails that
should have been purged by now.  I know how to do this in Forte Agent
(the program I use primarily for news and email) but I can not seam
to find the equivalent functions in Dialog.

Am I unhappy with the program?  Not really.  But Dialog is still in
development, so I am giving it a lot of slack that I would not give it
if this were a production quality program (what we are running right
now are public beta releases, which is a great way to get the program
tested on lots of configurations that Marcus has no access to, plus
use case scenarios that Marcus probably never thought about).  It is
definately usable, but it could be more usable with some more
functions or easier ways to get at existing functions that I have
been unable to find.

A good, comprehensive users manual would also go a long way to helping
with this.  But good user manuals take a LOT of time to write, so it
may have to come from the user community rather than from Marcus
directly.
