Filters questions

Are filters case sensitive? If so anyway to make it case insensitive? Do filters search for exact match or partial? For example trying to filter a list. For some strange reason some posts have [email protected] while others have freebsd-questions.freebsd.org My guess is that at some point the name changed, but they kept supporting the old name.. I first tried to filter by [email protected], but that didn't seem to catch the ones that had "freebsd-questions". Lastly, does the filter only works for incoming mail? What about mail in the directory already?
