Hi guys,

Great initiative :)

A lot indicates the need/space for a lightweight yet flexible solution
like Vexim out there. Exim is a widely used MTA with a big community,
yet it has (AFAIK) no actively managed mainstream user
backends/frontends (like Postfixadmin for Postfix). And even though
Vexim hasn't been updated for long, I belive it still competes well with
the alternatives.

Good to see the mail archives back up again! Because of the error on the
list archive and the spammed wiki I was not aware of a living Vexim
community until I discovered the list on Gmane. BTW, Gmane has a decent
search function and archives back to sept 2003; might come in handy if
we want to consolidate the hacks/patches:

It would be great to see some development of Vexim. I am a mid-range PHP
coder (stuck in PHP3/4-days - so probably not the right guy for proper
"object-orientification" of the Vexim code) and have very little spare
time (until autumn 2010). Probably cannot offer much other than minor
coding and of course input/testing. Fully understand Avleen's need for
more programmers to join the team, and great to see that you are still
around and care for the project.

Not sure what's the right place to start. If there's enough volunteers
to start a development team to work on the 3.0 branch it would be great
to start that process. If not, maybe it's an idea to release a
maintenance version of 2.2.1 to consolidate the patches around. I have
just briefly looked at the Exim4U project, but if we get the Vexim
development running I can't see any arguments for a fork.

Joining wiki discussion: I tend to like the all-in-one Trac based
website/wiki/trackers, for example like the Munin website [1]. Great
tool for keeping all info in the same place and easy for the community
to contribute. On the down side, the sites often look a bit too
"loaded"/technical.
