The patch would be to bogo.tcl, adding the "-" to lines 46 and 47, as  
follows.

      46             set bogo(spamprog) {sa-learn --spam - }
      47             set bogo(hamprog) {sa-learn --ham - }

I hope a new version of exmh will come out soon.  It is a wonderful
program, and I use it on a Mac PowerBook G4 running OS X v 10.4.9,
in preference to Mac Mail.  My only real complaint is that
the reply function is still not ideal for handling mime.  Nmh handles
reply better because it reads, in the .mh_profile, the mha-edit module
from MHonArc to strip out mime and provide flat text.  For reasons
I do not understand, exmh does not seem to be able to read the line
in the .mh_profile file.  Here, for example, is mine,

repl: -annotate -editor mha-mhedit -format -nocc me.  When I use
exmh's reply, here is a bit of what appears in the reply message  
template:

None of the first five lines appear when using nmh in an xterm
window.  I can use "cite selection" to get around this issue, but it is
a bit more time consuming.  The only other problem I have noted
with exmh is that it has trouble with emails that are heavily
laden with html, particularly if the message is dense with
graphics and/or uses exotic fonts.
