Error: port 465 should use implicit SSL/TLS.
For STARTTLS there's port 587.

There may still be servers aroung not requiring authentication, otherwise 
yes, authentication should be mandatory on 587.

Not anymore.  It's better to use 465 nowadays, because with implicit SSL 
there's no (or at least much lower) possibility of forgetting to enable it 
on both sides.
