By the way, here's some timings! Just plain starting up pine in the "bad" config, with pine *unaliased* (usually I have it aliased to open my rmeote config setting)... around 55 seconds to open 6379 messages. pine -p PINERCTEST which was the result of my previously described experiments (start up pine on new account, copy .pinerc over, and in two separate Terminal windows, copy the settings I see from one pine session to another) takes a little over 1 second to open the same 6379 messages. Both are sorted by Arrival, set to first-recent. So there's *something* going on, I just haven't narrowed it down yet. I think I'll give up for tonight, and try out that perl script later. Thanks for it, I wasn't actually asking for a script, just whether anyone else thought that was a good way to start. _______________________________________________ Pine-info mailing list [email protected] http://mailman1.u.washington.edu/mailman/listinfo/pine-info
