Personally I use the following approach if I want to move blocks of 
messages to a specific folder and then delete them from inbox.

- make sure aggregate commands are enabled

- mark each message with : (colon) (instead of D for deleting)

- do A     (for Apply)
- do S     (for Save)
- type the folder name (this will save all messages to the folder)

- do A     (for Apply again)
- do D     (for Delete)
- do X     (for eXpunge)
