I forgot to mention, since you're using 'mailfilter', that
'mailreaver.crm' is the preferred way to go. (mailreaver is also the
one that is promoted by Bill every time mail filtering comes up)
Nice side benefit there is that mailreaver.crm only includes the
'second bit' of the problem, so your issue will be much less apparent
with mailreaver, if at all.
