While the application gives access to the full Lucene query syntax, most of the indexed fields are for internal consumption, not for the end user. The only fields which can be queried directly right now are 'subject', 'header', 'szyear', 'szmonth' and 'szday'. Now... for some obscure reasons... it looks like a sizable proportion of users enjoy complex query syntax and feel frustrated by the current lack of opportunity provided by the application to express their baroque creativity :o) Technically speaking, providing direct access to all the message headers for query purpose is pretty straightforward, at the cost of bloated indices. On the other hand, going down the road of something as convoluted as IMAP search query is not very appealing. Perhaps there is a middle ground? Maybe a smallish set of well known header would suffice? Thoughts? Cheers, R. ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by OSTG.
