It would be nice if messages had an unread flag by default, which was 
then either flagged automatically or could at least be done manually, 
similar to the existing flag mechanism.

I want to say up front that I wish I could help directly to do this but 
I have zero Java experience. If it's easy for someone else to do, who 
knows the internals of the program, great. If not maybe I'll look into 
picking up some java.

I would love to use ZOË for all of my email/RSS needs and to me the 
read/unread issue is the only thing in the way.
