safer topic: iPad

So I got a new phone a few days ago and had a chance to play with an iPad at the
Verizon store.
 
Neat.  Fun.
 
And I sat and wondered…”what the heck would I use it for?’
 
So my question to the Mac-heads here:  Are they a toy or are they actually
useful?  My new droid has tethering, so I could create a hot spot and use the
iPad with its wifi when mobile.  So are they actually useful?
