Exactly what I was thinking. Interestingly enough and on a hopefully non-confrontational tangent. My 14 year old daughter is attending a catholic school this year and probably for the rest of her primary education days. She has been coming home and asking me whether I believed this or that and one of those topics was purgatory. She's also asked about Mary being the queen of heaven and earth and whether I believed Mary was perfect among other catholic related theological questions. For the record: Purgatory - I don't know but don't discount the possibility. It certainly appeals to my sense of justice. Mary queen of heaven - my first answer was I didn't believe that but I modified it to say I suppose that was one way to look at her, being chosen among all women as she was. Mary being perfect - told her I didn't believe that and didn't think it could be supported in the bible, but then catholics weren't exactly the sola scriptura types. Not that I am either, any longer, but the logic of the immaculate conception is flawed, contrary to Christ's uniqueness and a relatively recently arrived at doctrine. But it has been good for discussion with her and she is getting a great education. And the cynical bastard that I am I've told her that she should consider becoming catholic, and that I'd do it with her, because of the scholarship opportunities it might present beyond the unbelievable numbers the school already delivers. I'm told that for a class of 60 kids they got over $5 million in scholarships to be divied out. Catholics do take care of their own. Mike F. ----- Original Message ---- From: Peter T.
