That's an interesting response, and not without some merit.

One problem I have with it, though, is that Obama is often described not 
only as arrogant but as "thin-skinned", "prickly", etc.  So heaping coals 
on loonies' heads, and doing so as a way to make right-wingers in general 
seem guilty by association, does not seem so impossible for him, to me.

I mean, it's not like Obama was *unaware* of birtherism.  He's cracked 
jokes about it in his speeches, etc.
