OK, then the server is listening (otherwise the IP stack would send the
unreachable messages) but it's not getting anything from the player.

Try running with and without the web server enabled. The only thing I can
think of between 1.0 and 1.6 that might cause this is the use of select().
I have a 2K machine, so I'll give it a try.
