Sorry, I don't know alot about mp3 decompressors, so I hope this isn't a silly question... How is the volume control accomplished on the slimp3? The no-holes-barred method is usually to do volume control in the analog domain so that music quality is not sacrificed at lower volumes due to lose of the LSB's - but I assume this is not done on the slmp3, so it must be done in the digital domain by the decompressor firmware. How much quality is lost at lower volumes? Is there magic done by the decompressor for the psycho-acoustic effects of lower volumes or anything else funky going on, or is it pretty much dividing out the DAC value? The basic question is, should I forego the convienience of volume control from the slimp3 itself and run full-range into my equiptment and adjust the volume from there, or do you think Mp3 is already lossy enough to not bother? (Yes, I need to do my own listening test - but I'd also like to know how it works.) thanks, mike ------------------------ Yahoo!
