Hello dean, db> That's good feedback. db> Have you tried running the powersupply fan at 5V. too? I bought one of these Shuttle SV-24s for myself and instantly most everyone else in our office bought one as well. One guy bought 2. This is what I use for the server for my SliMP3. I modded the default headsink fans and the case fan to 5V and that makes a huge diff for little appreciable difference in operating temperature. Unfortunately the PSU fan is a tiny little thing embedded in an odd sized box at the front of the chassis. It's very difficult to get to and I don't think such a fan is going to be a good idea at 5V. Actually you'd need to disable it, remove the fan and perhaps attach a larger fan to the side of the PSU and reassemble. Another project I haven't gotten around to yet. The PSU fan is very noisy unfortunately. Otherwise it's a fab little unit, firewire ports work a treat with my iPod. I've also fitted another HD in the floppy bay. Tight fit, front of HD is flush with the case but it does fit. If I have any other gripes with it, the onboard video output is dreadful (you can't scale and the colour is pants). I've also tried a variety of software DVD players and with a 733 VIA C3, none of them could play back smoothly - I think it's a vid card issue. With one PCI slot you have to think carefully what to put in. A hardware DVD decoder would be a good choice or perhaps a PCI GF2MX with TV Out so at least you can watch DivX as well. BTW, Win2K CD just crashed trying to boot it to install so I went with XP and that was a breeze. The recent partially-not-sucky vid drivers you have to get from S3's web site.
