Thanks for the great replies, everybody.  I think I'll check out some 
ID3v2 editors (although I'm surprised I didn't have success with EasyTAG 
(http://easytag.sourceforge.net/), a GTK+ utility.  It looks like 
there's a more recent version that what I tried last time.
