Downloaded headers for about 257k articles in the group (using Newshosting) and tried to download several parts of the "A Woman Under Influence" post. Couldn't see any extra noticeable HDD activity, the files were assembled "on the fly" (*.01, *.01-02, *.01-03, etc.) and no noticeable HDD thrashing appeared after finishing the entire 395 MB. Only after watching the BNR3.exe's process disk activity using Process Explorer from Sysinternals I could see that after downloading the entire 395 MB there is a "READ+OTHER" (that's what they call it) peak for a few seconds. Don't know what exactly is BNR doing in that moment, though... I'm running BNR3 on a Samsung 750 GB drive in external Cooldrive Quad Interface box connected via Firewire 800. ------------------------------------ Important Addresses: Post message: [email protected] Group owner: [email protected] BNR homepage: http://www.bnr2.org/ Yahoo!
