So why are you reading the BNR group for ???

I have used every other news down loader and none can come close to BNR 2
or 3.

Grabit is utter shite. I had to do some testing for a server the other day
and wanted to keep the data away form the BNR's I were using for other
things ...its a joke. It was hard work and much slower.

Alt.binz is a bit better, but cant do 20% of what the BNR's can, I expect
if you get the odd .nzb every now and then it might be ok.

I seem to remember NBP was a bit of a kludge and was always locking up
everything and having to kill locked threads to get it back, a bit of a
shambles for the cost.

Newsleecher has problems in the decoding area and in the 10 GB I used it
with needed almost 2 GB to be got again because of encoding errors BNR 2
had to re-get less then 3 MB for the same 10 GB of data.

As to the real question in this thread, most of the time I dont see any
'real' disk activity, but I cant remember which way round, but either big
parts or small seem to lag a bit behind and are being decoded sometimes if
I refresh a dir I see quite a lot has not been updated to the file views.

But, I have quite a lot of RAM (most boxes have their max amount) and the
boxes I use BNR [23] on all have their own drive to work to/with.

I also have always tuned the page file (sqLite) to what works best (I have
posted .bat files to do the work many times), and with BNR2 it has the
memory needed turned right up, 296.3 MB being the least I have it set at,
I expect it has a lot to do with what BNR version you use if its 3 and the
sqLite page is as standard then it will have to do a lot of work at times
and that might be down to swapping.

Apart from the above I cant think what it could be other than the Hdd
being used by something else and the que getting long/working hard because
of file I/O. What BNR do you use ?
