:) I really have a love hate relationship with BNR2.... but to be perfectly frank....bnr2 is still the best prog I keep coming back tooooo....have never used linux but it should have a dual boot where u use an old version to download what you want.

Currently using w2k but will be stepping up to w7 in the near future..however w2k is great and will be keeping bnr2 on w2k. :) bnr3 is not an option for me!!!

Are you not able to do the same dual boot in linux???

            I've been having more and more trouble with BNR2 for Linux over the past year 

or so.  The final straw seems to have been my move to KDE4.2.  Since then I've 

been getting random crashes out of BNR when I open a group.  By "random", I 

mean "roughly 50% of the time".  Needless to say, this makes using the program 

rather nervewracking.



I'm currently experimenting with running the Windows version via wine, but at 

best, that's an awkward workaround.



So I'm looking for recommendations from anyone who cares to offer one.  My 

minimum requirements are:



1) Linux-native

2) Multi-server selection (gathers headers from multiple servers and presents 

a merged view as BNR does) and download.

3) Allows grouping related newsgroups into a single view (as BNR does via 

folders).



Note that I do *not* require that it necessarily handle multiple threads for 

downloading -- that's a "nice but not necessary", as I typically queue a bunch 

of files before I leave for work, and leave them downloading when I go.



Your (collective) thoughts?
