Make cricket update RRD file with a real timestamp instead of "N"

I just noticed an issue whereby cricket is retrieving data (SNMP stats)
and updating the rrd file only to find that the rrd file is full of
NaN's. From what I've read, this problem can sometimes be alleviated
if the updates are done with an explicit timestamp instead.

I notice in the cricket code that cricket updates the rrd file with a
timestamp of "N" if there is no other datestring available. I would
like to make the timestamp available and do the rrdupdate with an
explicit timestamp.

Does anyone know of a way to do this?

Perhaps I haven't combed the code enough. I will go back to it and try
to figure it out, but I wanted to toss out this request to the list in
case someone else has dealt with this.
