meaning of buddy status colors??

I checked the archives and the FAQ, as well as the AIM homepage, and
could not find an answer to this question:

Using AIM, screennames listed in my Buddies window show up as "Away"
using three different colors, red, blue and grey.  I have also seen
green.  What do the these colors mean??

Get Info works for blue or red buddies, but it says that grey buddies
are offline.  Does this mean that that grey buddies have me blocked
or are using some kind of "invisible" mode?? If they actually were
offline, I'm thinking the word "Away" would not appear in grey, but
that it would not appear at all.  Any ideas??
