Right -- if you're willing to follow the NSes to an authoritative server,
*then* you are supposed to get everything, because authoritative data
overrides any cache.

Yep, it basically means you can't trust anybody's cache. You have to
go back to an authoritative server, which is pretty bad.

Indeed so. Sigh.
Note that if you ask it *again*, you may not get everything: different
records may have different TTLs (unusual, but legal), so your cache can
rot without notice.
