Archiving knowledge (the contents of messages) is not a problem.

Republishing private data from authors without authorization is another real
problem (wellknown and recognized in a BCP RFC known as the "netiquette").
Yahoo or Google are hiding private email addresses in their group archives,
exactly because they know and recognize that such information will be
misused by spammers.

What I have said against Lars Magne is justified by the fact that he has
lied to me and to others about what he was doing effectively after a gentle
request sent to him (It's not just me: his site has also been banned from
other groups he was archiving despite of a very clear policy that prohibited
it! His collection was stopped by forcing its unsubscription, but he
continues to publish private data collected for years).

When a site creates a mailing list of forum with a policy that normally
hides private data from the users to random visitors, no one should have the
right to bypass this rule and remove this protection.
