You have not given any justification for why the change you propose is
an improvement. It seems at first look to be a purely cosmetic change

Jase Thew is arguing that *purely cosmetic* changes which some users
will consider improvements but other users will find make things worse
aren't worth development effort. That's a *far* cry from calling for all
development to cease because people are happy with things as they are.
