I set it to tcp. Now, both the master-agent & the sub-agents are up but I get an error on the sub-agent: "Warning: Failed to connect to the agentx master agent ([NIL]):" Does the sub-agent require a configuration file? -Rotem -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Dave Shield Sent: Thursday, November 22, 2007 11:27 AM To: Rotem Tzuk Cc: [email protected] Subject: Re: Socket error in AgentX On 22/11/2007, Rotem Tzuk <[email protected]> wrote: > thanks for the quick response. > I tried: > agentxsocket udp:localhost:705 > and it came up. > any reason to use tcp rather then udp? AgentX is designed to use a connection-oriented link between the master and subagents. As such, TCP is the standard recommended transport, and should be supported by any AgentX implementation. The Net-SNMP code is structured in such a way that AgentX can run over non-connection-oriented transports (such as UDP) as well, but this is not standard and may not work with other AgentX implementations. But if it works for you, then fine. Dave ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: Microsoft Defy all challenges.
