The log messages are your friends. Check out the daemon log directory. Editing the log4j.properties file in the OpenNMS etc directory you can set it down from WARN to DEBUG. No need to restart OpenNMS - within 60 seconds it should change. You should see the discovery process pinging each IP in the ranges you configured. Set it back to WARN when you are finished.
