Rahul,

   Thanks for the link, looking at it made me realize what I had done. As
you probably noticed, followed the quick start instructions a little too
closely and a little too quickly. I never noticed that there were different
repositories for different distributions. So after browsing to
http://yum.opennms.org i found the correct repository, uninstalled all the
incorrect packages, removed the repository, installed the new repository and
new packages, and now everything WORKS!

Thank you so much for catching my oversight :)
