In the case of a simple address with no "realname", what should the
value of realname be?  I chose to use the email address because I
thought that was more informative than an empty string. I can probably
make this configurable, e.g., 

   if (realname == "")
     realname = call_a_hook_to_create_a_real_name ();

I will try to get to it this weekend.
