Are you using the latest version of Spread?  Did you compile Spread for
32-bits or 64-bits?  If you're using a 64-bit compile, try recompiling it
with the following patch:
  http://www.savarese.com/software/libssrcspread/api/spread-4.1.0-64-bit.patch
