do you use the -A cmd. line flag? if so, drop it.

nnrpd.access from the server:

*:Read:::!*,tin.*,lists.*

   (i've check that from various ips)

you could recompile (a _recent_ version) of tin with debugging enabled and
start it with -D 1 to see the NNTP dialog.
