Put ubh aside for the moment. Can you telnet into port 119 of the news server? If so, you can manually speak to the server to determine whether your username and password are valid. For example, your news server is news.newserver.com, your account is "catherine" and your passord is "wheel". When you telnet into port 119 of news.newserver.com, your conversation will go like this: 200 news.newserver.com AUTHINFO USER catherine <<<<==== You type this 381 more authentication required AUTHINFO PASS wheel <<<<==== You type this 281 news.newserver.com QUIT <<<<==== You type this If you can't do this with your server, then your user name and/or password are not valid. Maybe you need a password in addition to your account name? -Gerard --- Steve Kaufman <[email protected]> wrote: > I'm using v2.5 & am receiving a "ERROR: Net::NNTP->authinfo() > failed: 502 - Authentication Failed" message.
