Virtually every operation we do that deals with rpm directly will have to change. The plan john and I have discussed is to take the rpm-wrapper.py module from 1.5.x (which is not complete) and back port that to 1.4.x. In the process, ALL interactions with rpm itself will go through that one module, to localize these kinds of API changes.
