What a buzz kill!! Seriously though, folks are going to pump up, over
clock and in sort make whoppie with the gray areas no matter what the laws
of physics may be. Thing is sometimes its not so much what is technically
thought is needed but what is good enough.

I have said this before and Ill probably say it again soon...but the
linksys and all the other gear each have their place. I have gotten good
works out of linksys gear in nodes down here in Portland, my own
neighborhood node being one of them. But its not what the linksys stuff
is for. Linksys is for  cafe or home sized hotspots with very close
range users in a non noisy atmosphere. Heck we have a problem right now at
a PTP node where it seems too many people being in the room cuts the
linksys's range greatly.

This is why there are Metrix boxes folks. We have put up or are putting up
a couple of nodes this month that are using the Metrix boxes and the
difference is just plain obvious. You want to build robust networks in
outdoors, or noisy indoor , environments...you get a Metrix.

But there is a place for the WRTs, regardless what Mr Party Pewper rants
about...( I keeed I keeed I say it with love jim), just make sure your
using OpenWrt or Ewrt and not that Sveasoft crap. I mean come on folks,
who wants to support the works of some litigious crazy thug who spends
hours each day playing "change the wiki page" because his skin is thinner
than Bush's reasoning for going to war in Iraq.
