The prices are a bit higher (20%), but for the occasional user on vacation or at university it might do the trick when phoning home or anywhere. Skype to Skype is free. The software is cross platform and the most interesting for some would be the presence of software for the Pocket PC. The sound is great, but it is a bit hefty on bandwidth. The better sound proves popular with those more private conversations. Downside: There is no number to dial into yet. http://www.dualphone.net/ Has a wireless phone with USB for Skype AND a normal phone socket. This provides for the connection to an Asterisk server in say a company or a dorm. www.asterisk.org "The Olympia Cordless DUALphone is a cordless telephone that can be connected to a normal telephone socket and a USB port on a PC. The display shows whether your friends who also use Skype, are online. If they are, you simply have to press the appropriate green button and talk to them for free - no matter where they are in the world" Its a bit pricey at EURO 135,- but for the talkative user ..... :-) I think it is about time to move our friends over to IP-telephony and save dollars :-) It has reached a certain "maturity" level - I keep getting calls from Mature ladies in Brazil and young girls in Estonia :-) Time to let go of Ma Bell :-) Several of my friends have kicked the habit of landlines. I never had a landline :-) Greetings Jim Oksvold Oslo, Norway _______________________________________________ Talk mailing list [email protected] http://seattlewireless.net/mailman/listinfo/talk
