Dear All,

I just wonder if any one is interested in develpoment of a new open source GIS engine under Linux/UNIX
i have a beta version of it under RedHat working with IBM DB2
see the attached screen snap-shot of the software

( I know it should have an arabic name, but geoINFO is the name of this software till now)

geoINFO is an open source GIS engine written from scratch in C, Motif, X-Windows and DB2 on IBM RS/6000 UNIX machine running AIX 4.2, as it is written in the most popular open system tools, the migration process to any other UNIX/Linux platform is so simple ( just recompile the code ), I have migrated it to RedHat 7.2 Linux easily.

geoINFO is designed so that we keep attributes data inside a database and load the graphics data only to RAM, then access attribute data on request.

This makes it faster in data loading and can handle huge data (up to ram size).

What is geoINFO:

v Complete design and Implementation of spatial data engine

a.. Create database (DDL for tables and indexes)
b.. Spatial tables design (DB info, layer, feature, coordinates, ..)
c.. Tabular tables design (feature have tables with primary key)
d.. Network Connectivity tables (Node-Arc-Node model)
v Basic Data structure & File formats

a.. Data structure for all elements (layer, feature, xy-coordinates, .)
