We use ConnectWise PSA, it is pricy, but has huge functionality makes up for it, including email alerts to customer for ticket notes as well as activity notification and outlook integration. We have been running it for a few years now. It's free and has lots of functionality. A friend actually told me last night how much he prefers it to RT and was trying to get his co. to run it.
