I presume that you're talking about the Smart-UPS RT which is an online
UPS; I don't think they make the line-interactive versions that large.
It would be odd for an online UPS to exhibit that issue since you
shouldn't see a difference in the output whether it's running on
utility, generator, or battery since it's always inverting from DC.

If it were mine I'd put a scope on it.
