and apparently obtained opt-in from everyone they mail. This claim is being
challenged. I encourage you to do the same. Ask for the specifics (at the
risk of aiding them in list-washing)

There are several 'tainted lists' doing the rounds, or being sold as
"opt-in" databases. Quite how someone can buy an "opt-in" database is beyond
me, yet this seems sufficient for suckers to part with their money.

At the same time banks, credit providers and insurance companies are also
known to sell customer data. ITC too according to spammers.

Your options are
- http://www.internet.org.za/spam_message.txt
- click the unsubscribe link
- lodge a complaint with the police if repeat spam occurs
  (unlikely to be fruitful)

Not sure what to do in terms of the CPA except sign up for the opt-out
database, which is a poor idea to begin with. See the press coverage of the
opt-in versus opt-out debate earlier this year (DMASA etc)

Having dealt with many of these spamme^h^h^h^h^h^hdirect marketers it seems
they feel they have a right to buy lists and send email to anyone, and
recipients have an obligation to unsubscribe if they don't want it, even if
it means endless repetition to this task. This view is unlikely to change.
