It's really the naughty WASPs (my personal non-business-related experience with those guys called Mira, to name but one) that are causing this, but the mobile telcos should allow consumers easier access to unsubscribe or get more information. And I suppose the mobile telcos need clamp down on this blatant theft. I've discovered that these naughty WASPs have silly terms and conditions on a *landing* page for mobile users, that says, and I summarise in my own words: "By looking at this webpage, you now agree to be charged R7/day until you unsubscribe", and then due to the mobile number forwarding that is enabled in the HTTP headers, they promptly start billing, with no double-opt-in. By the time you notice the money going away, they could have stolen dozens of Rands already, and getting a refund is near-impossible. I suppose in a way, the mobile telcos are enablers for this theft and should be held accountable somehow too? -Aubrey _______________________________________________ IOZ mailing list [email protected] http://lists.internet.org.za/mailman/listinfo/ioz
